# Autism doesn’t need a cure, it needs support

At BrightLife Kids, we don’t treat autism like a problem to solve. And you don’t need a diagnosis to get support. The level of support your child needs matters. If coaching is a good fit, it can help both kids and parents navigate some of the challenges that can come along with autism.

Whether you’re noticing early signs of autism or your child already has a diagnosis, what matters most right now is finding the right support. We can help you understand if coaching will be a good fit for your child. If a higher level of support will be more effective, we can help with free referrals and information.

Autism is a spectrum. It doesn’t look the same for every child. That’s why understanding what’s really going on can feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be.

## Notice, be curious, and trust your gut

If you see behaviors that seem different in comparison to other kids at your child’s age and stage, trust your instincts. Notice whether your child:

- Avoids eye contact or prefers playing alone
- Struggles to understand how others feel
- Has trouble with social cues or making friends
- Gets upset by even small changes in routine
- Has delayed or no speech, or repeats phrases (echolalia)
- Shows repetitive behaviors like flapping, spinning, or rocking
- Reacts intensely to lights, sounds, textures, or smells
- Seems withdrawn, easily irritated, or unusually anxious
- Has sleep or eating issues, or can’t focus

These signs don’t define your child — but they can be clues to what’s going on underneath. And when you get answers, you get power: the power to take action.

## What support for autism looks like at BrightLife Kids

Autism doesn’t need fixing. It needs understanding — and the right kind of support. We’re here to help your child feel that support. And we’re here to help you feel confident, capable, and connected in the process. Many kids with autism or symptoms of autism also experience anxiety, attention issues, sensory sensitivities, picky eating, or social struggles. Depending on the severity of those challenges, coaching can help by teaching you and your child skills to practice and use in daily life.

Our coaches use a variety of different approaches to help kids with symptoms of autism and related behavioral challenges:

- **Organizational skills training (OST):** For kids who struggle with executive functioning, planning, and school-related tasks
- **Emotional regulation skills:** Drawing from evidence-based interventions, coaching can help kids and parents manage stress and improve social relationships
- **Parent coaching:** Gives you the tools to support your child at home — from managing behaviors to building life skills
